Still Life

These are still life paintings, mostly of things that are dead, abandoned, neglected, broken down or discarded; effigies of living things which never existed or never resembled their distorted copies; objects whose function has been subverted or disabled - cars crunched up, filled with trash or hoisted into the air, never to roll the roads again. These are the scenes that capture my eye as I move through the world, a suddenly appearing bright color or unusual shape, a sea of little faces, a shadow or a doorway. Many of these paintings were done specifically because I felt their subjects would never otherwise be painted.
